The ESF is the governing body for 15 subvented
schools offering a British curriculum. Prices range from about
HK$4,000 a month for primary schools (age 5-11) and about
HK6,700 a month for secondary schools.
The schools enroll from a geographical
catchment area depending on the area of residence -- although
the secondary schools on Hong Kong island are oversubscribed
in certain age-groups and children may have to be referred to
a school with vacancies.
Children from as many as 40 different
nationalities attend ESF schools which prepare pupils for
entrance to universities and colleges world-wide and not just
the U.K.
